Voting in progress
At Tsholfelo polling station in Gabrone , our correspondent reported that people started queuing at 5:30 am and the first voter cast his ballot at 6.30am.
The situation was not different at Therisanyo Primary School A and B polling stations where over 250 voters were in the queue around 6.00am to cast their vote.
Polling is expected to close at 19: 00 hours Central Africa time in 57 constituencies organised into 490 polling districts and 2288 internal polling stations with 26 international polling stations for Batswana living abroad who have already cast their votes.
Speaking to the African Elections Project, Commissioner Professor B.B. Chimphamba, of the Malawi Electoral Commission who is here as a key observer with Electoral Commission Forum (ECF) of Southern Africa said he found it interesting to see an elderly voter who was at the polling station as early as 4.00am at Kabologo polling station in Gaborone, indicating high level of voters interest in the electoral process of voting.
