Turkey president addresses Ghana Parliament; announces re-opening of Embassy
Turkey President Abdullah Gül has promised a renewed relationship with the government and people of Ghana.
Addressing Members of Parliament in Accra on Thursday, the visiting president announced the reopening of the Turkish Embassy in Accra which was closed during the 2008 global economic meltdown.
Abdullah Gül also promised to improve upon trade for the mutual benefits of the two countries.
According to Joy News’ Cyrus deGraft Johnson who was in Parliament, the Turkish President also commended the government and people of Ghana for the relative peace it has enjoyed over the years and applauded Parliament for the diligent ways it has handled the affairs of the state.
He also announced an open policy with Africa, with Ghana playing a more pivotal role.
Abdullah Gül who is in Ghana on a two-day visit hoped the relationship between the two countries would be strengthened.
