Safety and Security: Promise 19: Provide the service with the needed logistics for the service to function effectively

Report is ready and there has been a reduction in crime rate in terms of inter-year comparism (Crimes commonly committed reduced from 52,894 in 2009 to 49, 785 in 2010).

5th Report October/November 2010
The government at the beginning of the year provided the service with vehicles and other logistics. The police Service is also one of the first beneficiaries of the Single Spine Salary Scheme. General crime rate was subsequently reduced from 20, 254 in January 2010 to 19, 753 in May 2010. The government during this data collection period presented 24 four-wheel vehicles to Ghana police to aid the police in combating highway robberies. (We are yet to receive the statistics on general crime rate for the third quarter of 2010. But the sector Minister states that crime rate has dropped).

1st Report January - June 2010
In fulfillment of this promise, the government at the beginning of the year presented 120 vehicles to the service, and other donors and individuals have also presented the service with logistics ranging from vehicles to motorbikes.
The service is focusing on in-service training since the beginning of the year and has therefore not done any more recruitment.
Crime rate has reduced from 20,245 in January 2010 to 19,753 in May 2010.
