Ellen Resolves UP Power Rift in US
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has resolved the leadership dispute within the ruling Unity Party(UP) branch in the United States of America.
A dispatch from Washington said the President arrived there Sunday to participate in ceremonies marking the 360th Commencement Convocation of Harvard University.

Now Officially a Political Party in Liberia
The National Democratic Coalition (NDC), a political group consisting of different opposition political parties, has been formally launched in Monrovia.
NDC is made up of members of the progressives. The group is continuing efforts to have a grip on the almost 2.1 million eligible voters in the upcoming General and Presidential Elections.

The Chairman of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), Mr. Louise Brown, says it is time to realize that no single group or party can solve the problems of Liberia because the problems of Liberia belong to all Liberians.
According to Chairman Brown, it is time to imagine new possibilities to sensibly move away from what has not worked to learn from the mistakes, and to explore other alternatives.

The Opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has called on the Supreme Court of Liberia to speedily rule on the writ of injunction filed against the constituency delimitation exercise, which was conducted by the National Elections Commission (NEC).
It can be recalled a fortnight ago, the Liberty Party (LP), filed an injunction before the Supreme Court of Liberia, questioning the legality of the process and others.

Expelled NDPL Members Loot Headquarters
The Headquarters of the former ruling National Democratic Party of Liberia (NDPL) in Water and Johnson Streets’ premises has reportedly been burglarized and several valuables including cash looted.
The burglary according to the spokesperson of the party, Joe Gbalah, took place last Saturday, while National Chairman George Dweh and fellow partisans were attending the certification ceremony of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) at the Vamoma House in Sinkor.

The Issue of Political Campaigning Ahead of the 2011 elections
The National Elections Commission Guidelines relating to the registration of political parties and independent candidates in any given election was signed into law on June 1, 2009.
Section 23 of the guidelines says that the Commission shall determine and publish the date when canvassing and campaigning shall begin and close and no political party or candidate shall be allowed to proceed to canvass and to campaign unless so declared and no political party or candidate shall continue beyond closing date.
