Remember, We Are One People
Tuesday 18th October 2011

Over the weekend a sub office of the governing Unity Party in the ELWA area was set ablaze by some unknown persons. The fire affected all parts of the building. Similarly on Monday morning, the offices of the Sarafina Venture Incorporated, operator of LOVE FM/TV were also set ablaze by some unknown persons on the 10th Street. Prior to the two attacks which took place following the elections, a vehicle belonging to Mr. Eugene Nagbe, a supporter of the Unity Party was set on fire, also by some unknown persons.

Additionally, there are also reports that some media institutions have been blacklisted. It has been learnt that a co-produce or presenter of the Truth Breakfast show, Smith Toby was attacked.

These attacks have sparked serious public concerns especially so at a time there have been incessant calls for Liberians to avoid post-election violence. Many have been concerned because these kinds of acts do not augur well for a country that has experienced years of conflict that led to the death of thousands of Liberians.

Like others, we denounce these violent acts following peaceful elections.

We therefore call on all Liberians to shun any violent act such as arson and threats. We should remember that we are all Liberians and that nothing should be done to divide us. We are saddened by these violent actions.
