On Tuesday, October 18, 2011, the Liberia Media Center announced that it officially closed its exit poll tabulation having reached 61% of the votes it aimed at recording.
The LMC, in a press release, explained that the system was designed to aggregate election results in real time that as they were being processed at various polling places across the country.
The Elections Reporting System, the LMC further explained, is part of a broader project: “Strengthened Media for Transparent Elections “supported by USAID through IREX, UNESCO and IMS.
We wholeheartedly commend the LMC for its exit poll tabulation during the just ended presidential and legislative elections.
We think this initiative by the LMC is very rewarding because it made many Liberians residing home and abroad follow the vote counting and the declaration of results at polling places in a bid to get a picture of how the overall elections could be.
