6:37PM Police in Bahn Nimba County have arrested a man believed to be connected to a group of hooligans who are in the habit of tearing banners and posters of political parties. According to a Chronicle source, the arrest was made in Zoe Geh by officers of the Liberia National Police after a formal complaint was made by officials of the National Democratic Coalition about the tearing of banners in and around the area.

9:02AM A Representative Candidate of Montserrado County District #5 on the ticket of the ruling Unity Party (UP) narrowly escaped death around his Paynesville residence on Sunday night, August 28, 2011. Alexander A. Suah, Sr., who said the incident happened at about 10:00 pm while he was returning home, said it was occasioned by the burning of his vehicle to ashes. In a telephone interview with this paper Monday, Suah explained that, while on his way home from Central Monrovia at about 10:00pm, he noticed a motorcycle behind his car on a narrow road leading to his residence in Paynesville, outside Monrovia.

Gunmen destroy UP party banner and Paraphernalia

7:19AM Unknown gunmen attacked the headquarters of the Unity party (UP). The Lofa County Chairman of UP Raymond Ziama and Superintendant Galakpai Kottimai corroborated that 6 unidentified men armed with pistols and machetes attacked the partys offices in Voinjama. This incident has further been confirmed by AEP journalist based in Lofa.
