MALAWIANS VOTE IN TRIPARTITE ELECTION
Voting in Malawi's tripartite general elections enters third day extensions at some polling stations, as the poll got off to a slow start because of logistical problems. The government deployed the army to some areas on Tuesday to help monitor the election in which 11 candidates are vying to unseat President Joyce Banda, southern Africa's first female head of state, who came to power two years ago. There were chaotic scenes at some polling stations in the capital, Lilongwe, and the commercial hub of Blantyre, as voting materials failed to arrive or ballot papers were sent to the wrong end of the country making voters to go on rampage burning ballot boxes. Many polling stations did not open on time on Tuesday and there had been multiple reports of rigging across the city..
