http://www.salonevote.com/; one stop online platform for Sierra Leone November 17 Election Informati

As Sierra Leone November 17 general elections is fast approaching, there are a number of interesting online platforms reporting on the elections including http://www.salonevote.com/.

http://www.salonevote.com/ was set up to respond to the time consuming challenges of collecting and analyzing data from election observers by National Election Watch (NEW) the largest coalition of monitoring organizations in Sierra Leone with support from Open Society Initiative for West Africa(OSIWA) and in partnership with One World  .

NEW hopes their
online platform will provide Sierra Leonean elections stakeholders with unprecedented information including turn-out,voter demographics, corruption levels and results during the November 17 polls. In addition, the platform displays information on all the polling centre locations, general voting procedures, poll opening, closing and counting, making the map a one-stoponline platform for election information.

The National Election Watch(NEW), which is serving as the secretariat for this platform will receive coded SMS reports sent from a statistically significant sample of their 9,493 trained election observers who will be spread across every polling station across the country. These messages will be converted, verified and mapped using One World’s real time monitoring technologies, which will enable the National Election Watch to make informed and immediate interventions, after which the data will also be published on an online platform  for anyone to see in real time or as soon as local internet access permits.
