Ghana elections 2012 enters Day 2, as official results trickle in
Voting resumes this morning in several polling stations across Ghana where national elections were suspended Friday evening following the breakdown of biometric verification equipment. The exercise officially opens at 7am and closes at 5pm.
Eight candidates are contesting the presidency, and provisional results from a number of constituencies so far have officials of the ruling National Democratic Congress and main opposition party, the New Patriotic Party claiming victory. The Electoral Commission has yet to release official results, contrary to previous elections that were followed immediately with official results. |
