Kamuzu Chibambo

<p class="MsoNormal">Kamuzu Chibambo is the presidential candidate of the People’s
Transformation Party (PETRA) for Malawi’s general election scheduled for 16
September 2025. He is a lawyer with over 34 years of experience.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Chibambo has selected Chris Bulakwacha as his running mate,
forming the presidential ticket for the 2025 election under the PETRA banner.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><b>2025 Campaign</b><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Hon. Kamuzu Chibambo has centered his 2025 campaign on
achieving Malawi’s “Third Liberation”, an economic transformation that ends
dependence on donor aid and puts wealth in the hands of ordinary citizens. His
key promises include reforming natural resource governance to ensure local
value addition, introducing a currency board system to stabilize the economy,
and creating mobile technical schools to equip youth with practical skills and
startup support. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">He also positions himself as a strong anti-corruption
candidate, having withdrawn from the Tonse Alliance over governance failures,
pledging to restore accountability and deliver a self-reliant Malawi.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Chibambo withdrew PETRA from President Chakwera’s Tonse
Alliance, citing corruption including high-profile cases like the suspension of
ACB Director General Martha Chizuma as well as food insecurity and
mismanagement in government programs like the fertilizer distribution scheme.<o:p></o:p></p><p>

and called for visionary leadership rooted in Malawi’s own strengths, its
